‘Twas a fine sunny day as the tweedster velocepedists assembled at the Poni Moi Triangle adjacent to the Louise Dillingham Memorial Fountain; a fine company of eight cyclists, some sporting their finest tweed or fur, whilst others sported dashing caps and bow ties. After a brief history of Kapiolani Park, including its racetrack, we were off along the Lei of Parks bicycle trail to the Queen Kapiolani Rose Garden. There, we were joined by another rider and witnessed the photographing of some beauties, the flora there and a group of pageant ladies. Off to the Date Street Bicycle Path we went, taking in the Ala Wai Golf Course, the Ala Wai Canal with its water fowl, and ending at the Ala Wai Community Center. In The Lounge at the Ala Wai Community Center, Lady Wendolyn and family, along with Miss Cherry, Mister Mario, and Lieutenant Colonel Manny prepared a wonderful spread. The Lounge was appropriately and stylishly decorated and included the flags of their Hawaiian Majesties. The featured tea was Lupicia’s Royal Rose Tea, in honor of Her Hawaiian Majesty, Queen Kapiolani and her garden. Much conviviality followed and the ballots were tabulated with the following results:
- Miss Robert received the Dashingest Dame honor,
- Mister Bert received the Toppingest Hat honor,
- Miss Yamato received the Stateliest Steed honor,
- Miss Cherry received the Toppingest Tea Cup honor,
- and Mister Jacob was awarded the Antiquarian Award.
