Announcing the second annual Royal Hawaiian Tweed Ride. Dash the pushy competition of ordinary cycling events and join together for a leisurely ambulation through Honolulu with tip-of-the-hat manners, a spot of tea, and the camaraderie of pedaling with your fellow riders.
"Wot?! Wot?!," you ask? This is not a race but an unsupported ride-in picnic (riding at your own risk). Tea at Queen Kapiolani Park will be provided by the ride, please bring your own cup and saucer (and spoon if you need one). Schedule: 2:00 o'clock p.m. - Assemble at Walker Park (at the foot of Fort Street Mall) 2:30 o'clock - Depart Route Stop - Obligatory group photo at Iolani Palace 3:30 o'clock - Arrive at Queen Kapiolani Park for a spot of tea and awarding of the contests 5:30 o'clock - Fin Contests: To be judged by the participants during the ride; awards presented at the end of the ride. * The Dashingest Chapeau Award (for the most captivating hat) * The Marvelous Moustache Award (for the most impressive facial follicles) * The Hotsy Totsy Hosiery Award (for the most fetching stockings worn) * The Wilberforce Bertram "Bertie" Wooster Tweed Award (for the tweediest attire) * The Smashingest Tea Cup Award (for the most charming tea cup to sip from) Please ride responsibly, obey traffic laws, respect pedestrians and authorities. And remember, some effort to recreate the spirit of a bygone era is appreciated. |
