1:00 to 4:00 pm
I say chap, chapettes, and chumrades, the 2018 Royal Hawaii Tweed Ride occurs on Saturday, the 24th of February. What is the Royal Hawaiian Tweed Ride, you ask? Why it is a casual, yet dapper, bicycle ride through Honolulu ending with a tea social. As always, honors will be awarded for dressing smart and playing the part.
This season’s theme focuses on literature, assembling on the front lawn of the Hawaii State Library (an Andrew Carnegie library, by the way) at one o’clock in the afternoon. The ride will progress through Honolulu by means of Kakaako, Ala Moana, and McCully, culminating at The Lounge in the Ala Wai Community Park.
Time schedule:
At The Lounge in the Ala Wai Community Park, indoor bicycle parking will be available. Tea will be provided by the Ride; please bring your own tea cup, saucer, and spoon should you require one. A drawing of prizes will also occur.
Honors will be presented in the following categories as selected by your fellow riders:
This is a casual gathering and unsupported bicycle ride (riding at your own risk) with a route distance of approximately four miles primarily following established bicycle routes, lanes, and paths including the Lei of Parks bikeway. Please ride responsibly; obey traffic laws; respect pedestrians and authorities. There is no fee to participate, just a willingness and effort to recreate the spirit of a bygone era, which is greatly appreciated.
